چکیده

This paper presents a four-faceted framework for distributed applications that use worldwide networks connecting large numbers of people, software tools, monitoring instruments, and control devices. We describe a class of applications, identify requirements for a framework that supports these applications, and propose a design fulfilling those requirements. We discuss some initial experiences using the framework, and compare our design with other approaches. ∗The Caltech Infospheres Project is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under grant AFOSR F49620-941-0244, by the CISE directorate of the National Science Foundation under Problem Solving Environments grant CCR-9527130, by the Center for Research in Parallel Computing under grant NSF CCR-9120008, by the Advanced Research Projects Agency, and by Parasoft, Inc. and Novell, Inc. This paper is partially based upon work supported under a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.

An Effective Task Scheduling Framework for Cloud Computing using NSGA-II

Cloud computing is a model for convenient on-demand user’s access to changeable and configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services with minimal management of resources and service provider interaction. Task scheduling is regarded as a fundamental issue in cloud computing which aims at distributing the load on the different resources of a distribu...

A Framework for Evaluating Cloud Computing User’s Satisfaction in Information Technology Management

Cloud computing is a new discussion in enterprise IT. It has already become popular in terms of distributed technology in some companies. It enables managers to setup and run the intended businesses by avoiding excessive spending on computers, software and hiring expert staff, which proves to be cost effective. Cloud computing also helps users pay for the IT services without spending massive am...

A Generic Fragmented Object Structured Framework for Distributed Storage Support

We propose a generic framework for storage support in a distributed environment. This comprises a set of storage abstractions and storage policies: data clusters, cluster containers, and container domains, supporting sharing, caching, and replication. These abstractions and these policies are structured as fragmented objects (FOs), such that each storage system designer can ooer the appropriate...

Improvement to the Smart Data Server with SOAP

As a distributed computing middleware, the Smart Data Server (SDS) provides a general framework for easy-to-build environment-independent modules with distributed functionality and a secure mechanism for invocation. But there are still some problems in the widespread cooperation with other distributed computing system and client terminal. Nevertheless, SOAP, as a new promising simple object acc...

An adaptive randomised structured search network for locating objects in a distributed computing system

In an object-based distributed computing system, the use of location-independent naming scheme can improve the system’s transparency, scalability, and reliability. Names need to be resolved prior to passing messages between objects. This paper presents an Adaptive RandoMised Structured search network termed ARMS that provides name resolution by forwarding a query through neighbouring nodes. ARM...
